Artists all possess a unique spirit that separates them in some way from the rest of us. An unwavering compulsion to contribute something of substance to this world, to leave a footprint and a legacy that will outlive their time here. This spirit needs to be fed and nourished. The modern artist’s integrity is constantly being threatened as he balances his commercial endeavors with his personal pursuits. This is a fascinating dynamic, one that poweredby.tokyo decided to explore with one of Tokyo’s most prolific and in-demand fashion, art, and lifestyle photographers, Gui Martinez, and filmmaker Jeremy Rubier. What ensued is an intimate and visual character study of spiritual and artistic balance through moving and still images. We used the images that Gui took on his journey in real time as art work for subsequent film screening and photo exhibition.
